Parsec, a range of radiant and vapour barriers, is an innovative form of insulation. Derived from NASA space technology, Parsec was originally designed to protect space vehicles from solar heat. In its industrial applications, the insulation works outstandingly well in both hot and cold climates.
In hot countries, the interior temperature of buildings rises as the roof and walls absorb radiant heat and channel the energy back into the building. Parsec works by reflecting 95% of the solar heat and infrared radiation, keeping the building cool and reducing the amount of air-conditioning needed.
In a cold environment, Parsec helps maintain the interior warmth by acting as a barrier to external vapour, keeping heating bills down.
Parsec is ideal for use in many diverse types of industrial, domestic and commercial buildings and has been particularly successful in the agricultural sector. In animal sheds protected by Parsec, livestock such as chickens or pigs are subject to far less heat stress and are able to reach saleable weights much more quickly.
Because of its low permeability to the passage of moisture and gasses Parsec can also be used to insulate air conditioning ducts and chilled water pipes.
With a core of tear-resistant plastic, the material itself is incredibly tough and durable. It can span large areas of roof with absolutely no tearing or rips that would let heat into or out of the building. It will not corrode and has a coating which protects it from chemical damage.
