Polythene extrusion coated and laminated barrier liner materials
BSK is a major producer of extrusion coated and laminated products, which are used as durable moisture resistant barrier liner materials for corrugated and solid board applications.
BSK barrier coatings add value to corrugated and solid board by preventing moisture from damaging the technical properties and performance of the carton, thereby extending it’s service life and application potential.
Such materials consist of paper and polythene layers laminated together, to afford protection of the structure bearing fluting or board against moisture.
The thickness of the barrier layer controls the effectiveness of the moisture and vapour barrier, whilst the PE surface offers optimal protection against moisture, dirt etc.
These barrier liners can be supplied in two quality ranges - pure fibre based i.e. brown and bleached Kraftliners to give good strength and stiffness, and recycled fibre based i.e. brown and bleached Testliners, offering good cost savings versus virgin material.
Growth areas for barrier linings include transports of fruit, vegetables, meats, sweets, electronics and furniture. Barrier liners for fish transport use a substitute PET/PE/Paper construction to ensure good moisture resistance and release properties.
These barrier liner materials are recyclable by mechanical separation with existing equipment.
